Council approves acoustics upgrades for Gorecki Center, suggests historical photos to reduce echo

Milaca City Council on Sept. 19 approved adding acoustic panels to the Gorecki Center after a community fundraiser highlighted sound problems in the facility.
City Manager Tammy Pfaff said Dorothy Gorecki noted difficulty hearing when the building was full, and staff solicited a proposal for additional acoustic panels. Pfaff said Fund 216 has earned $2,578 in interest to date and holds $189,704 in total; councilors approved using funds from that account to add panels. Lindsee Larsen moved for approval; Norris Johnson seconded. Johnson suggested printing historical photos for the facility that could also serve as soft surfaces to help dampen sound; the council approved pursuing both panels and photos.
Council recorded the motion and unanimous vote to proceed; staff will follow up on procurement and installation details.
