Pat McDonald, a member of the Environmental Advisory Committee, presented a proposal for a single‑use plastics ban and answered board questions about covered products and business participation. McDonald said the EAC has spoken with several local businesses to assess feasibility and that plastic alternatives may cost slightly more than Styrofoam but many restaurants already use other materials.
Vice‑Chair Rich Orlow said he had no problem with the proposal, and Assistant Township Manager Catherine Ricardo said the next step would be public relations and outreach to solicit public feedback. Board members agreed the project was worth pursuing and directed staff to develop a public engagement plan before advancing regulatory steps.
The EAC presentation and supporting materials were filed with the township and are available on the township website for review; staff did not present an ordinance at this meeting and no formal vote was taken on adoption.
