She said she was told DCS expected the conduct to be addressed in the teacher’s improvement plan, but that the district nonetheless returned the teacher to the classroom. "The one who was harmed is the one dealing with headaches, sleepless nights, anxiety and sudden changes to their schedule and routine," she said.

The board did not announce a formal disciplinary outcome during the meeting. Smith told the board she will continue to press for transparency and accountability.
