New York Mills council approves police labor pact, county lease and routine resolutions

The New York Mills City Council unanimously approved several formal measures during its Feb. 10 meeting, including a new labor agreement with the police union and a 10-year lease with Otter Tail County for the City Center.
The council adopted Resolution No. 02-10-2026b, approving the labor agreement between the City and Law Enforcement Labor Services (LELS) Local No. 519 that covers Jan. 1, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2028. Councilors Maki and Grotheer made and seconded the motion to adopt the resolution; the motion carried by unanimous vote. The resolution directs the mayor and city clerk to execute the agreement.
Councilors also approved a 10-year lease with Otter Tail County effective Jan. 2026; the county’s 2026 rent was set at $21,032.50 and the county asked to be invoiced for the full amount. The motion to approve the lease was moved by Nesland and seconded by Maki and carried unanimously.
The council adopted Resolution No. 02-10-2026 to accept a $500 donation from the New York Mills Lions Club for the pool, and Resolution No. 02-10-2026a to state the city’s support for submitting a grant application to the Otter Tail County CDA to fund a local housing study. Both motions were approved unanimously.
