Long Prairie Township seeks city contribution for 6th Street mill-and-regrade project estimated at $220k24250k

Walter Zastrow, representing Long Prairie Township, asked the council on Feb. 11 to note a township pavement-maintenance project on 6th Street (from the Highway 287 intersection to the Lake Charlotte ball field) and reported two bids had been received.
Zastrow described the proposed work as a 4-inch mill and regrade of the road. He said the township27s estimates for the entire project ranged from $220,000 to $250,000 and that the portion falling inside the city limits could cost the city roughly $60,000 to $85,000. Zastrow said the township hoped to complete the bid process by the end of February.
City Engineer Kent Louwagie later told the council staff will coordinate with the township regarding potential pavement maintenance on 6th Street and that engineering and payment responsibilities will be addressed as the township finalizes bids. No formal city commitment or motion was recorded at the meeting; councilmembers took the comment as public input and staff follow-up was indicated.
