The New Germany City Council voted July 16 to list the fire department’s old truck on the GovDeals auction platform and to use a reserve price, after Fire Chief Goede outlined options for sale.
Chief Goede told the council the department could sell the truck through an individual/broker (Jeff Martin was discussed) with a buyers premium and a buyback option, or post it on GovDeals; council members favored the GovDeals option with a reserve. The old truck will be parked at the city public works building while disposition proceeds.
The chief also gave operational updates: installation of can lights on the station soffits and above the NGFD sign, completed SCBA hydro testing (required every five years), plans for the FD ball tournament Aug. 2–4, and preliminary concerns about forthcoming OSHA rules that may affect officer qualifications. He noted National Night Out plans that will include a water-sprinkler demonstration with fire trucks.
Councilmember Kevin Grove moved and Thomas Mielke seconded placing the truck on GovDeals with the reserve option; the motion carried, 5-0.
