Bonnema reported on employee evaluations conducted with city employees Nolan Slagter and Sarah Van Dyken and, together with Councilmember Nate Marcus, recommended the 3% increase. "A 3% increase in pay and benefits for employees retroactive to February 1, 2025," the council record shows as the recommendation. Mayor Mitch Swart moved to approve the recommendation and Dan Negen supported the motion; the council approved it unanimously.
The council did not specify a department or line‑item funding source during the meeting; staff will implement the payroll adjustment and reflect the change in future budget reports.
