The Prinsburg City Council voted Feb. 11 to request quotes to repair the city’s water tower after a presentation from Josh Johnson of Bollig.
Johnson told the council the project will include several items tied to MDH permitting requirements — removable sediment ring, vent replacement, OSHA‑conforming climbing devices, mesh on the overflow pipe and a sample tap in the valve vault — and that the overall construction cost is currently estimated at about $65,000. "We just need two quotes since the cost is estimated to be around $65,000," Johnson said, and he recommended a separate pressure‑tank rental for hookup and removal estimated at about $10,000.
Mayor Mitch Swart asked for guidance on timing and limiting disruptions; the council approved a motion to request quotes and proceed with project planning, with an instruction not to schedule repairs between July 3 and July 7. Josh Johnson and City employee Nolan Slagter will determine the tank placement and prepare the quote package; KLM has identified the items likely required for state permitting.
The council noted that bid prices could vary widely depending on contractor schedules and directed staff to obtain the requested quotes and return with firm proposals and cost estimates before awarding work. No formal contract award was made at the meeting; the action was authorization to solicit quotes.
