Jennifer Wilkinson, administrative officer in the human resources department, presented the agreement and summarized its principal elements: a 3% wage increase retroactive to Oct. 2025, a 3% increase effective Oct. 2026, a 3.5% increase effective Oct. 2027, a 1.5% 10‑year longevity incentive effective Oct. 2026, the addition of a sixth salary step for Sacramento Fire EMT and Paramedic classifications, increases to health and welfare contributions, recognition of Juneteenth as a holiday, and standby pay for senior fire prevention staff.
Wilkinson said the schedule also included targeted hourly increases for seasonal staff and an adjustment to the director of economic development’s salary range included in the same schedule as part of broader successor adjustments.
Vice Mayor Karina Talamantes moved the item; the motion was seconded and the council approved the item by voice vote, 9–0.
Council members described the agreement as an attempt to balance workforce needs with fiscal responsibility amid ongoing budgetary pressures. The adoption sets the salary schedule that staff will apply administratively and directs the appropriate budget and implementation steps to follow.
