Long Prairie council approves construction payment, liquor-store staffing and equipment purchases, and police tasers

At its Dec. 18 meeting the Long Prairie City Council approved multiple administrative and purchase items including construction pay application #16, liquor store equipment and staffing changes, public-safety equipment purchases and routine license renewals.
City Engineer Kent Louwagie (Bolton & Menk) explained Pay Application #16 and council approved payment of $93,159.31 to C&L Excavating, Inc. for work on the CSAH 56 & CSAH 38 improvement project. The council also approved a Braun Intertec invoice for construction materials testing ($276.50).
For the city’s liquor store the council approved a quote from Lindstrom Refrigeration, LLC to replace a cooler/condenser for $15,455 and approved creation of a full-time assistant liquor store manager following a proposal from manager Pam Koska. The council also approved an on-sale liquor license for Edita’s Bar & Grill pending receipt of insurance, and approved annual renewals for multiple liquor, tobacco and corporate licenses.
In public-safety and equipment purchases the council approved the purchase of Tasers for the Police Department in the amount of $28,522.20 to be paid over a five-year plan. The council approved purchase of a Maxwell Nuvo 3405 with Polyskin packaging sealant material for $17,578.00 and the rental of a Marathon 180 BRE melter with arrow board at $6,495.00 per month.
The council also approved a resolution (23-12-18-35) allowing Todd County to retain Voting Operations, Technology & Election Resources (VOTER) funds allocated to the county for election operations (city’s default allocation for 2023 calculated at $161.58). Council members approved an audit engagement letter from Schlenner Wenner & Co. to complete the 2023 audit. There being no further business, the council adjourned at 8:16 p.m.
