City Administrator Ted Gray summarized the petition history and the statutory process; the council held a public hearing at which no objections were presented. The petition was filed Oct. 6, 2023 and, according to the administrative review, was signed by a majority of abutting property owners as required under Minnesota Statute § 412.851. Council member Jim Kreemer moved the resolution and Mayor Jodi Dixon seconded; the motion passed (vote tally not specified).
The resolution authorizes the mayor and city administrator/clerk to execute documents to effectuate the vacation and to file notice as required by law. The council materials state the vacation was approved because it would benefit public interest by enabling potential development of the affected lots.
