Long Prairie council approves mutual-aid pact and directs staff to solicit seal-coating quotes

The Long Prairie City Council voted Feb. 20 to approve a Fire Department mutual-aid contract with Todd and Wadena counties. Acting Mayor David Wright moved the contract approval, and Council member Lilah Gripen seconded; the motion passed.
City Engineer Kent Louwagie explained options for seal coating city streets in 2024 and identified three target areas labeled on reference figures. Acting Mayor Wright moved and Council member Jim Kreemer seconded a motion authorizing staff to solicit quotes for seal coating in the referenced areas and to adjust the plan if the city receives a Local Road Improvement Grant; the motion passed.
Council members also noted a temporary liquor license item for the Long Prairie Lions had already been approved at a prior meeting; Acting Mayor Wright moved and Council member Jim Kreemer seconded a motion to remove the temporary-license item from the current agenda, and the motion passed.
The minutes do not include vote tallies for these approvals. The council instructed staff to solicit contractor quotes and return with bids or further recommendations.
