Separately, the council considered a request to create a community service officer position for the police department. Police Chief Ryan Hanson outlined potential duties, but members raised questions about funding and equipment. Kreemer moved and Council member Clint Krueger seconded a motion to table the community service officer item until the police department provides budget estimates and details on required equipment; the motion passed. The minutes record that Chief Hanson will obtain financials and examine potential revenue from ordinance-violation fees as part of that follow-up.
