Madelia council approves consent agenda, DNR grant application, Chamber funding and pay request

At its March 24, 2025 meeting the Madelia City Council unanimously approved the consent agenda (including added administrative items), authorized submission of a DNR outdoor recreation grant application (Resolution 202508), approved Madelia Chamber funding of $12,800 for Park Day, scheduled a public hearing for a sign request and approved multiple payments including a $43,738.95 pay request to Traut Companies.
The Madelia City Council on March 24, 2025, approved a set of consent and action items covering grants, event funding, addressing and contractor payments.
Council members approved Resolution 202508, authorizing submission of a Department of Natural Resources Outdoor Recreation grant application. The motion to approve the resolution was made by Andy Gappa and seconded by Matt Gunderson; the vote was unanimous.
The council also approved assigning alternative addresses for 115 Benzel Ave SW—Apartment 1 through Apartment 4—by a motion from Mark Slater, seconded by Andy Gappa. A public hearing was scheduled for April 14, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. to consider a sign request from Laura Sorenson of Linden Sky Boutique (motion by Andy Gappa, seconded by Matt Gunderson).
The council approved funding of $12,800 to the Madelia Chamber for the 2025 Park Day Event (motion by Mark Slater, seconded by Andy Gappa) and approved Pay Request No. 6 to Traut Companies for work on Well #4 and Well #6 in the amount of $43,738.95 (motion by Andy Gappa, seconded by Matt Gunderson). The consent agenda included a run of vendor checks and a listed total of $118,473.10 for the check register as recorded in the meeting minutes.
All recorded motions at the meeting passed unanimously with Mayor Cody Eager and councilmembers Mark Slater, Andy Gappa and Matt Gunderson voting in favor.
