Harvey council approves clerk raise, gutter work and water payment; sets budget-amendment hearing

At its March 9, 2026 meeting at the Harvey Community Center, the Harvey City Council approved a 5% salary increase for City Clerk Jennifer Geery, contracted gutter work for municipal buildings, and a $4,982.20 credit transfer payment to Marion County Rural Water District, and set a public hearing on a FY25-26 budget amendment for April 13, 2026.

The council voted to approve the City Clerk’s 5% raise in a motion by Council Member Adam Dubois, seconded by Dennis Seibert. The increase was recorded as moving the clerk’s annual salary from $19,321.32 to $20,287.38; Donald Nilius and Scott Starmer voted aye and Leonard Geery abstained. A formal resolution to enact the raise will appear on the next regular meeting agenda.

Council approved two gutter-work quotes from Superior Line Striping and Coatings: $834.90 to clean and install gutter guards at the Community Building/City Hall and $396.90 for the Post Office (motion by Leonard Geery, second by Adam Dubois; all ayes). The vendors and amounts were listed on the meeting’s claims and action items.

Council also approved Resolution 01-03-09-26 authorizing a water deposit credit transfer payment of $4,982.20 to Marion County Rural Water District (motion by Donald Nilius, second by Dennis Seibert; all ayes). That payment appears in the approved claims list for the period.

Earlier in the meeting the council set a public hearing on a FY25-26 budget amendment to address website development costs, timing of prior-year water tower painting expenses, and transfers between Water/Sewer and the General Fund; the hearing is scheduled for April 13, 2026, at 6:15 p.m.

Other routine approvals — the meeting agenda, prior minutes (Feb. 9, 2026) and the February financial report — were carried by unanimous votes. The council approved payment of February claims as presented and adjourned; the full claims list and fund summaries were entered into the record.
