Mayor Jeremiah Wiese called the regular meeting to order at 6:30 p.m., with Council Members Houzenga, Hicks, Fauser, Stankee and Grau and City Clerk Meghan Ganzer noted present. The clerk presented the consent agenda and financial report, which listed June gross wages of $16,067.36, total June expenses of $191,421.14 and total June revenues of $64,220.35; the council approved the consent agenda on a motion by Council Member Hicks, seconded by Council Member Stankee.
Council members moved quickly through a slate of routine approvals. On motions made by Council Member Stankee (seconded by Hicks), the council approved final Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and State Revolving Fund (SRF) draws and later approved a transfer of funds to savings via Resolution 2025‑02 (mover Stankee, second Grau). The council also approved Resolution 2025‑01 updating the employee policy (mover Stankee, second Hicks).
Event-related motions included approval to close the intersection of Main Street and Jefferson Street (from Madison Street to Desperados) for Cal‑Wheat Day activities on Aug. 23 (motion by Grau, second Fauser) and approval of streets for a 5K race on the morning of Aug. 24 (motion by Stankee, second Hicks). The council also approved a $1,000 donation to the Wheatland Betterment Committee to support the Wheatland TNR program (motion by Hicks, second Fauser).
On ordinance business the council moved to waive the first and second readings of Ordinance 209‑25, which amends garbage and recycling rates to include a dumpster rental fee (motion to waive by Council Member Stankee, second Hicks). The council then approved the third reading of Ordinance 209‑25 (motion by Hicks, second Grau); both motions passed with 'All Ayes,' effecting the ordinance amendment.
Other approvals included creating a new city website using WordPress and acceptance of the 2024 bond report (motions by Fauser; seconds by Grau and Hicks as recorded). The meeting adjourned at 6:57 p.m. on a motion by Stankee, seconded by Grau.
