Council approved Resolution No. 2026-13, adopting a tentative agreement between the City of Winterset and Teamsters Local 238 that covers wages, hours and terms of employment for a successor agreement from July 2026 through June 2029. The union membership ratified the tentative agreement before the council authorized the mayor and city clerk to execute the final contract.
The council also awarded the request-for-proposals for professional audit services to Denman CPA LLP for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, with a proposed fee of $27,000. Council authorized the mayor and city clerk to execute the professional-services agreement and directed the City Administrator to administer the contract.
Additionally, the council approved claims in the amount of $48,525.21 and approved the consent agenda, which included previous meeting minutes, board minutes and liquor-license renewals. Department heads provided routine written reports on streets, library, parks and recreation, fire and police matters; no substantive council work-session discussion followed the formal agenda.
The council entered and exited a closed session under Iowa Code § 21.5(1)(c) to discuss litigation strategy; the session lasted from 7:34 p.m. to 7:58 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 7:58 p.m.
