Winfield council unanimously adopts county hazard mitigation plan update, sets hearing on budget amendment

The City of Winfield City Council met in special session on Jan. 28, 2025. Mayor Willie Bender presided as the council approved several routine items and passed two resolutions by unanimous vote.
Councilperson Jennifer Lemke moved to approve the meeting agenda; Councilperson Matt Hernandez seconded and the motion carried, Ayes-5, Nays-0. The council then approved invoices dated Jan. 8, 2025 through Jan. 27, 2025 on a motion by Councilperson Matt Hernandez with a second from Councilperson Brandy Smith; that motion also passed 5-0.
The council adopted Resolution 12-2025 to adopt the Henry County Multi-Jurisdiction Hazard Mitigation Plan Update 2024 for Henry County. Councilperson David Pieart moved the resolution and Councilperson Jennifer Lemke seconded; the motion carried Ayes-5, Nays-0. The plan update provides an agreed framework for county- and jurisdiction-level hazard mitigation planning and becomes part of Henry County's official mitigation documentation upon local adoption.
The council next approved Resolution 13-2025, setting a public hearing for a fiscal year 2025 budget amendment. Councilperson Jennifer Lemke moved the resolution and Councilperson Matt Hernandez seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The resolution schedules the public process required before the council may adopt specific amendments to the 2024-25 budget.
