Taylor council adopts ordinance allowing administrative approval of certain plats and site plans
Summary
To align with a new state law effective Jan. 1, the council adopted Ordinance 02025-01 amending Titles 17 and 18 to authorize administrative staff to approve site plans, plats, lot-line adjustments and related development actions, removing the requirement for public hearings on some items.
The Taylor Town Council unanimously adopted Ordinance 02025-01 on Dec. 4 to amend Titles 17 and 18 of the town code and permit administrative approval of selected land-use actions such as site plans, preliminary and final plats, lot-line adjustments and plat amendments.
Town Manager Gus Lundberg said the ordinance is intended to align Taylor’s code with a new state law effective Jan. 1 that removes the requirement for public hearings for certain development activities and authorizes administrative personnel to approve them, with the aim of speeding up the construction process.
Vice Mayor Bill Baldwin read the second reading. No members of the public spoke at the public hearing on the item. Jason Brubaker moved to adopt the ordinance; the motion was seconded by Lynn DeWitt and passed unanimously. Council did not specify implementation details at the meeting; council and staff will follow state law and internal procedures to effect administrative approvals.
