Crawfordsville airport manager reports 52% fuel‑sales jump, 25% traffic increase; monitors pending zoning bill

Airport Manager Lori Curless told the Board of Aviation Commissioners Feb. 18 that the airport saw a notable uptick in activity in 2025 and is preparing for possible regulatory changes.

Curless reported that combined 100LL and Jet A fuel sales at the Crawfordsville Regional Airport increased about 52% at year end 2025 compared with prior years, which she attributed to higher fuel uplift by LIFT Academy. She said 2025 traffic operations were up about 25% from 2024 and that aircraft rental and maintenance activity were among the stronger indicators for the year.

Curless also briefed the board on personnel changes, noting that Brady Ball resigned in early January and that two part‑time operations employees were hired: Marshall Stadler (a rehire) and Steve Woolwine. She said staffing changes were meant to maintain operations and support increased activity.

On policy, Ms. Curless informed the board of pending state legislation that would require local zoning within five miles of an airport to help protect runways, approaches, infrastructure, and investments as development occurs. She said she has begun coordinating with the mayor and plans to work with the county to ensure compliance if the legislation passes.

Engineering staff (Mr. Worley) reported a design kickoff meeting earlier that day with Hanson, the architect, on the snow removal equipment building.

Curless presented these items as informational; no board action was required on the staffing, sales figures, or the zoning update during the meeting.
