The North Mankato City Council on Dec. 16 authorized the City Administrator to execute a five-year solid-waste and recycling contract with West Central Sanitation, the incumbent hauler.
City Administrator McCann summarized contract terms: a 4% cap on CPI-based annual increases (any amount over 4% is carried forward until absorbed), a catch-up provision that will make this year's increase larger, and a return of pickup start times to 6 a.m. McCann emphasized that the City sets residential utility rates independently from contract terms. Council Member Oachs sought clarification on how contract increases would affect resident utility bills; McCann said the City sets rates separately.
Council adopted Res. No. 115-24 by unanimous vote (moved by Council Member Oachs, seconded by Council Member Steiner).
