The North Mankato City Council on Dec. 16 approved modest increases to utility and solid-waste fees.
Finance Director Ryan told the Council the proposed water rate would increase by $0.50 per 1,000 gallons — the per-gallon water rate had not been raised since 2014 — and the wastewater rate would also rise by $0.50 per 1,000 gallons. The Council adopted Res. No. 111-24 (water) and Res. No. 112-24 (wastewater) on unanimous votes (movers: Council Member Peterson and Council Member Steiner, respectively).
The Council also adopted Res. No. 113-24 to increase refuse rates by $0.25 per cart size. Council Member Steiner moved adoption and Council Member Peterson seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Finance Director Ryan noted these adjustments to rates are intended to align fees with operating costs and capital needs. The Council did not record any dissenting votes.
