Council approves plans and bid advertisement for Page Avenue reconstruction ($3.43M)

The North Mankato City Council on Jan. 21 adopted Resolution No. 10-25, approving plans and specifications and ordering advertisement for bids for the 2025 Page Avenue street and reconstruction project (City Project No. 24-04 ABCDEF). Council Member Steiner moved and Council Member Whitlock seconded the motion; the vote recorded Steiner, Oachs, Whitlock and Mayor Carlson as aye.
City Engineer Sarff presented the project area—Page Avenue from Lake Street to Range Street—and described planned upgrades: sanitary sewer, watermain, storm sewer, street resurfacing and street lighting. He gave an estimated total project cost of $3,433,000 with the following departmental breakdown: $489,100 for sanitary sewer; $567,400 for watermain; $411,300 for storm sewer; and $1,965,200 for street and surface improvements and street lighting. Sarff said bids will be opened Feb. 18, 2025, an assessment hearing is scheduled for April 7, 2025, and construction is expected to begin in early May and end in late September. He noted bid documents include language to accommodate the city's Fun Days event.
The council adopted Res. No. 10-25 to proceed with advertising for bids. The adoption directs staff to publish the plans and specifications and initiate the formal bid process; subsequent council action is expected after bids are opened and the assessment hearing is held.
