Calhoun County approves courthouse grounds for Sweet Corn Daze and Class of 1984 reunion

The Calhoun County Board of Supervisors on July 30 approved requests to use the courthouse grounds for community events scheduled Aug. 3, 2024.
Charity Vogel of the Rockwell City Chamber presented Sweet Corn Daze activities and asked to use the courthouse lawn during the daytime festivities. The board approved the request on a motion by Scott Becker, seconded by Carl Legore; the minutes record "Ayes all." The board subsequently approved a separate request to reserve the grounds in the evening for the Class of 1984 reunion, with Legore moving and Becker seconding; that motion also carried "Ayes all." Dewey Snyder, director of facilities, was noted as present for event coordination.
The approvals were part of a short agenda that included routine administrative items: the board approved the Clerk of Courts monthly report (ending June 30, 2024) and quarterly reports for the auditor, recorder and sheriff, and reviewed several staff timesheets. Those procedural motions were recorded as made by Becker and seconded by Legore and carried unanimously among members present.
The board set its next regular meeting for Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. and adjourned.
