Calhoun County supervisors approve routine business, EMS vehicle purchase and letters of support for grants

At their Aug. 20 meeting the Calhoun County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved routine agenda items, authorized Drainage Engineer services through July 26, signed letters of support for three economic development grants, and approved an EMS purchase of a 2018 Durango for $4,000.
The Calhoun County Board of Supervisors met Aug. 20, 2024, in Rockwell City and approved a set of routine administrative items and department requests.
On a motion by Vice Chairman Scott Jacobs, seconded by Supervisor Scott Becker, the board approved the published agenda as presented. The board then approved the minutes of the previous meeting on a motion by Scott Becker, seconded by Scott Jacobs; both motions were recorded as "ayes all. Motion carried."
The board approved Drainage Engineer/Assistant Services through July 26, 2024 on a motion by Scott Jacobs seconded by Scott Becker (ayes all). Later in the meeting, the board voted to approve signing a Letter of Support for Economic Development to apply for the 2024 Iowa Leadership Bootcamp Grant, the 2024 Iowa Rural Revitalization Grant and the 2024 Aureon Charity Grant; that motion was made by Scott Becker and seconded by Scott Jacobs and carried unanimously.
Bruce Musgrave, Calhoun County EMS Director, briefed the board on personnel classification changes and new hires. The board authorized the EMS department to purchase a 2018 Durango from the sheriff's department for $4,000 on a motion by Scott Jacobs, seconded by Scott Becker; the motion carried with all supervisors voting aye.
All actions recorded in the minutes were approved by unanimous vote unless otherwise noted. The board adjourned and set its next meeting for Aug. 27, 2024.
