Lenox council approves movable solar radar signs, adopts gas-system awareness plan and grants easement to ITC Midwest

The Lenox City Council on Sept. 9 approved several operational measures, including the purchase of four solar/battery-powered radar speed signs, adoption of a public-awareness plan for municipal gas systems, authorization to advertise sealed bids for golf-course maintenance and the granting of an electrical line easement to ITC Midwest LLC.
City Administrator Allison Kitzman told the council the radar signs attach to existing speed-limit signs, can be moved around the city and record traffic data. Councilmember Tull moved to purchase four signs; Hodges seconded and the motion carried with all ayes. The transcript does not specify the purchase price or vendor for the signs.
Kitzman also presented Resolution 24-36, described in the meeting as a public-awareness plan covering the Lenox Municipal Gas System, the Prescott Gas System and DDS Rentals. Tull moved to adopt Resolution 24-36, Hodges seconded, and the council approved the measure by unanimous vote.
The council opened a public hearing to consider disposal of property at 205 South Walnut. No members of the public spoke. Kitzman later reported there were no bids for the property and said Resolution 24-35 would not be considered; the disposal process will restart and the item will return on a future agenda.
The council authorized advertising for sealed bids for an independent contractor to maintain Three Lake Municipal Golf Course for the 2025–2028 seasons. Kitzman said sealed bids are due by 4:00 p.m. on Oct. 9, 2024 and will be opened at the Oct. 14, 2024 council meeting. Tull moved to approve the advertising; Hodges seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
In a final formal action, the council approved Resolution 24-37 granting an electrical line easement to ITC Midwest LLC. Tull moved the resolution, Hodges seconded, the roll call vote was recorded as all ayes, and the motion carried. The council adjourned at 5:55 p.m.
