Councilmembers discussed reducing the speed on South Brooks Street from 45 mph to 30 mph for the stretch between Iowa Street and Dallas Street, and lowering North Brooks Street to 35 mph through the 700 block, with the speed increasing to 45 mph at the 700 block and 55 mph at the city limits. City Administrator Allison Kitzman told the council she will prepare the ordinance and place it on a future agenda for formal consideration.
No formal ordinance vote or motion to adopt a code change occurred at the meeting; the council’s action was to direct staff to draft the ordinance. The change will return for the required readings and final action at a later date.
