Rushford Village council approves October financials, accepts election results and accepts additional park grant funds

Treasurer Judy Graham presented the village financial report for October: receipts $29,940.64, expenses $35,806.60, with a bank balance of $314,407.45 as of Oct. 31. The council approved the financials as presented (motion by Hart, second by Ruberg, carried).
Graham recommended December CD allocations for various capital categories: maintain a $25,000 CD for the grader; reduce roads/mowing equipment allocation to $6,000; consider eliminating a $16,000 truck allocation if a truck is received next year; reduce bridges to $12,000 and office tech to $5,000; and leave $2,000 for parks. Council members asked for time to consider the recommendations for a December decision.
Clerk Mary Miner reported local election returns from Nov. 5, 2024: 527 total Rushford Village voters recorded; Dennis Overland received 477 votes for mayor; Rick Ruberg received 419 votes and Mike Ebner 420 votes for council at-large seats. The council voted to accept the election results (motion by Hart, second by Link, carried).
The council accepted an additional $1,200 from the SMIF-Taylor Rural Improvement grant to make the hall-park merry-go-round ADA compliant; the grant funds can be used for ADA-compliant mulch and a concrete pad. Rebecca Charles (CEDA) will provide more detail at the Dec. 3 meeting. A motion to accept the additional $1,200 was carried.
On employee benefits, the council voted to enroll Rushford Village in Minnesota PEIP health insurance and to set a 30-day waiting period for new hires (motions by Link, second by Hart, carried).
