Calhoun County supervisors approve road agreements, contractor award, drainage payments and hear Tiny Homes site plan

Calhoun County supervisors on July 16 approved a string of routine administrative and infrastructure actions, including authorizing a federal-aid agreement, awarding a road repair contract, and approving drainage-related payments.
Supervisor Scott Becker moved — and Vice Chairman Scott Jacobs seconded — a motion authorizing the board chair to sign an Iowa Department of Transportation federal-aid agreement for Surface Transportation Block Grant Project STP-S-CO18(84)—5E-81; the motion passed unanimously. The board also approved awarding the LFMPCPATCH24-7X-13 project to Midwest Contractors, Inc., on a motion by Scott Jacobs seconded by Scott Becker.
The board approved payment of $440.00 to Mauer Tiling, Inc. for work on Drainage District 254 and approved payment for Drainage Watchmen Services covering April 1, 2024 through June 30, 2024 as presented. Nick Buse, Calhoun/Sac County Engineer, presented department updates; Mike Moeller, Assistant to the Engineer and Safety Officer/Zoning and Flood Plain Administrator, presented a drawing of a site plan for a Tiny Homes project at Twin Lakes. The transcript records the site-plan presentation but does not record a formal vote to approve the Tiny Homes site plan.
Separately, the board convened a closed session under Iowa Code 21.5(1)(c) to discuss strategy with counsel about matters in litigation or where litigation is imminent. The board voted to enter closed session at 9:41 AM (Ayes: Becker, Jacobs, Legore) and reconvened at 10:07 AM with the same recorded vote.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn until the Board’s next regular meeting at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.
