Rebecca Charles (CEDA) provided a letter of support for a SMIF Rural Improvement Grant that would fund playground equipment; the council approved the letter by motion (mover: Mike Ebner; second: Travis Link). The council did not specify the exact equipment beyond the concept of a merry‑go‑round and noted it would be up to the city to select final equipment if the grant is awarded.
Planning/Zoning Administrator Jon Pettit reported there have been no Planning & Zoning meetings in July and August due to a lack of quorum. Pettit said Planning & Zoning set a public hearing on Branden Johnson’s requested variances (site location and sidewall height) for Sept. 3 at 6:45 p.m.; the council’s next regular meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. that night.
Clerk Mary Miner reported that the Hans Anderson Road vacation documents have been recorded at Fillmore County and are held in the safety deposit box at Rushford State Bank. The council took no further formal action on the variances or the grant at the Aug. 20 meeting; any future actions will follow the usual public‑hearing process.
