Airport Manager Lori Curless briefed the Crawfordsville Board of Aviation Commissioners on March 18 about sharp fuel-market movements, ongoing projects and a recent transfer of operations to a private operator.
Curless told the board that "Jet A dealer acquisition costs have increased $1.55/gallon in just the last 3 weeks," and that, overall, 100LL sales are slightly up from last year while Jet A sales are down about 74% year over year. She said the combination of market instability tied to conflicts in the Middle East and the completion of local development projects makes it likely that 2026 fuel sales will be negatively affected.
Curless also updated commissioners on airport projects, including closeout of the snow removal equipment grant and work on perimeter fencing associated with the wildlife-fencing project. She announced the 2026 Airport Day is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026.
On planning and protections, Curless said legislation requiring zoning within five miles of an airport was approved by the legislature and "will ensure the airport, its runways, approaches, infrastructure, and financial investments remain protected as future development occurs." She said she has begun coordinating with the mayor and with county officials to ensure local ordinances and zoning align with the new requirement.
Curless also informed the board that the transfer of aircraft rental, the flight school and aircraft maintenance to Starlin Air LLC became effective March 1, 2026, and that the transition has been smooth to date.
The board had no further questions recorded in the minutes. The meeting adjourned at 4:35 p.m.
