Lapeer County approves P.A. 511 Community Corrections grant, MDHHS award and multiple budget items

The board adopted a resolution authorizing Lapeer County's participation in the Thumb Area Regional Community Corrections Fiscal Year 2027 P.A. 511 Grant Application for $484,606.20, covering the period Oct. 1, 2026 through Sept. 30, 2027. The resolution passed on a unanimous roll call recorded in the minutes.
Separately, the board moved to accept a $21,530 Multi-County Health Department grant from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) at no additional cost to the county general fund and authorized the Health Department Director to sign the agreement.
On other budget items, Commissioners approved the Lapeer County Community Mental Health FY27 annual contract subscriptions with an estimated total cost of $604,054 (reported as $123,823 less than FY26). The board also approved a $1,634.98 contract to Thumb Alarm System, Inc. for fire control equipment at 1505 Suncrest Drive at no additional county general-fund cost, and adopted the 2026 second-round Materials Management Planning Program budget in the amount of $114,600 for submission to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE).
