The Ruthton City Council approved two building permits and the February bills during its March 2 regular meeting.
On a motion by Darwin Sietsema, seconded by Chris McCurdy, the council approved a permit for Alex Moorse to replace a shingle roof with a metal roof at 450 Norway Street and a permit for Chris Bump to build a 16-by-12-foot front deck at 220 Evans Street. Both permits were recorded as approved unanimously by consent.
City Attorney Matt Gross was invited by the council to discuss enforcement and administrative issues, raising questions about blighted properties, unlicensed or junk vehicles, building permitting processes, and water and sewer billing issues; the minutes record that Gross asked questions but do not include direct responses or policy decisions from the council on those topics.
Wastewater Supervisor Darrin Haroldson delivered the monthly report for February and answered council questions about system operations.
The council also approved the February bills on a motion by Brian Baartman, seconded by Stu Peterson; the minutes list receipts of $90,650.00 and record a disbursements figure written as "$92,2264.43," which appears to be a typographical error in the minutes and is flagged in the record as unclear. The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
