Dubois County to proceed with courthouse HVAC project; Messmer Mechanical named lowest bidder

President Michael W. Kluesner reported that proposals for a courthouse HVAC temperature control system were scored by a small committee and that Messmer Mechanical was selected as the chosen vendor and lowest bidder at $257,236. The board agreed to proceed with the project pending funding approval and reached consensus to advertise an additional appropriation of $260,000 from the LIT-ED fund to cover the work.
Kluesner also reported on a possible upgrade to courthouse security cameras and software, saying he and Commissioner Chad Blessinger are working with Astro Security to determine necessary upgrades and scope. The sheriff’s commissary report for July 1–Dec. 31, 2024, was submitted; a review committee of Kluesner, Ryan Craig and Meredith Voegerl will review the ledger and request detailed receipts as needed.
The transcript records consensus to advertise funding for the HVAC project; a formal appropriation vote was not recorded at the Jan. 21 meeting. Funding approval will be subject to the advertised appropriation process and later formal action.
