At the Dec. 16 meeting the Dubois County Board of Commissioners approved several routine agreements and administrative items. Auditor Sandra L. Morton presented a professional area economic development services agreement with Dubois Strong for $59,262.89 for 2025, which the board approved unanimously. The board also approved changing the Records Library hours in 2025 to Monday and Wednesday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.; declared a laptop and scanner from the Prosecutor's office surplus; and approved use of courthouse restrooms by Heart of Jasper for an event on Feb. 22, 2025.
The board opened quotes for 4‑H Council swine barn repairs; Pfaff Construction submitted a bid of $107,052. Quotes were taken under advisement and a contract is expected to be negotiated for presentation at the Jan. 6, 2025 meeting. Commissioners discussed the county's remaining opioid settlement funds and JRAC's recommendations for local match spending — including hiring two Community Corrections officers and grants to Dove House and Next Steps Recovery — but no formal vote was taken. Commissioner Blessinger also reported a vacancy in a Community Corrections maintenance position and raised questions about personal use of county vehicles; County Attorney Gregory Schnarr was directed to research whether an ordinance is needed, noting the Employee Policy and Procedures Handbook addresses the topic.
The board signed annual nepotism and contract disclosure certification forms for elected officials for 2024 and set the 2025 meeting schedule to the first and third Monday of each month (with adjustments when holidays fall on Monday). The next regular meeting is Jan. 6, 2025 at 8:00 a.m.
