County opens 2025 highway materials bids; awards deferred to Dec. 2 meeting

At 9:00 a.m. on Nov. 18, the Dubois County Commissioners opened bids for materials and supplies that the Highway Department will use in 2025. The board read the submissions aloud, made the bid documents available for inspection and took the bids under advisement for departmental review.
Exhibit A (included in the meeting minutes) tabulates bids by item and vendor for a wide range of materials: aluminized steel pipe, polyethylene smooth interior pipe, geotextile, ready‑mixed concrete, bituminous/asphalt products, hot asphaltic concrete, cold mix, various sizes of quarry stone, stockpile and spread pricing, and sand/fill. The exhibit notes vendor terms such as freight charges, minimum purchase thresholds, escalation/de‑escalation clauses and incidental fees (for example, IMI noted a $20 environmental fee per load on deliveries; Civilcon listed a $10,000 minimum purchase to avoid freight charges on some items).
County staff said bid documents will be further reviewed by the Highway Department for compliance with specifications and procurement rules, and awards are scheduled to be made at the Commissioners’ Dec. 2 meeting.
