Saint Peter Board OKs shared truancy liaison with Nicollet County, renews community education partnership

The Saint Peter Public Schools Board on May 20 approved a two‑year agreement with Nicollet County to share a Truancy Liaison Officer, who will work with students and families countywide to prevent habitual truancy.
Drew Dixon moved to approve the agreement; the motion carried unanimously. The Board did not record dissenting comments during the vote.
The Board also approved a Memorandum of Understanding between Community and Family Education and the City of Saint Peter’s Department of Recreation and Leisure Services. Community Education Director Tami Skinner said the annually renewed agreement defines responsibilities for both entities and helps maximize resources so a wider variety of programs can be offered to the community. That motion carried unanimously as well.
Both agreements are intended to coordinate services between the district and local government partners; the Board provided no additional conditions or funding changes at the meeting.
