The Linden City Council voted Nov. 17 to sell a 15-foot portion of Caldwell Street to Jesse Walker, approving a motion that includes a condition tied to nearby construction and scheduling a follow-up meeting to set a public hearing.
Councilmember Dominic Hayden moved to approve the sale; Councilmember June Rector seconded. The motion passed on a roll-call vote with Councilmembers Dale Parker, Chris Davenport and Dominic Hayden voting yes and June Rector and Tim Hays voting no. Mayor Tom Kauzlarich then set a special meeting for Nov. 24, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. to pass a resolution to hold a public hearing on the matter.
According to the motion recorded in the minutes, the sale covers 15 feet of Caldwell Street and is conditional: if no house is completed by Korey Maynes by the end of 2027, the city will split and sell the remaining portion of the road. The minutes do not provide further detail about the mechanics of that split or how the remaining sale would proceed.
The council had earlier approved the meeting agenda at the start of the special session. After handling the Caldwell Street item and scheduling the follow-up meeting, Councilmember Dale Parker moved to adjourn; Councilmember Dominic Hayden seconded and the council adjourned at 7:17 p.m. The minutes were attested by Shannon Barber.
Next step: the Nov. 24 special meeting, at which the council is scheduled to pass a resolution to set a public hearing on the Caldwell Street sale.
