The Lenox City Council approved a switch to Tyler Technologies for utility billing at its Nov. 12 meeting after a presentation by City Administrator Allison Kitzman.
Kitzman explained the city currently uses Banyon for fund accounting and payroll and GWorks for utility billing. She told the council GWorks is mandating customers move to a cloud-based product called Front Desk by December 2025 and said other cities have reported customer-service problems during the change. Kitzman said a Tyler Technologies demonstration showed a "definite upgrade" and described Tyler as cloud-based since 2000 with responsive support.
Council member Tull moved to approve Tyler Technologies for utility billing; Cruz seconded and the motion carried with "all ayes." The minutes record the conversion price as $36,994 with an annual fee of $4,750 for three years. Kitzman said there is a 9-to-10-month lead time on cellular gas meters and recommended completing the software switch in summer to avoid making the change during winter high-usage months. She also said the five-year goal is for the City of Lenox and LMU to use the same software to simplify cross-entity support.
The minutes do not include a vendor contract, formal implementation timeline, or a breakdown of ongoing costs beyond the three-year annual fee noted in the record. The council's approval was recorded as a motion and vote; no amendments or dissent are recorded in the minutes.
