Public works staff (Mr. Hutt) said the purchase includes 500 meters (3/4‑inch common residential size) and other external meters and antennas compatible with the city's automatic meter reading system. He said the vendor (Master Meter) is a sole source provider for the product and that a 7% tariff that took effect May 2025 contributed to the total price.
Staff said the purchase was budgeted in utility operations funds. Mayor Scott Kane noted an emailed opposition from James Martinez, which staff logged for the record. Council moved and unanimously approved the purchase.
