The Saint Peter Public Schools Board on April 15 approved a revised fiscal year 2026 budget and a series of personnel actions, voting unanimously on each item.
Business Manager Megan Gracia presented the revised FY26 budget, which the Business Committee had recommended at its April 8 meeting; the board approved the plan following the presentation. The consent agenda earlier in the meeting included approval of bills and wire transfers for March 2026 totaling $3,785,744.52.
Superintendent Jon Graff proposed adding a Dean of Students position (Teacher on Special Assignment) at North Elementary for a two-year term (2026-27 and 2027-28) so Principal Darin Doherty can devote more time to district curriculum coordination. The Human Resources Committee recommended the addition, and the board approved it unanimously.
The board also approved a sabbatical leave request from Saint Peter High School English teacher Paulette Topel for the 2026‑27 school year (a half-day leave for one semester); the request was described in the minutes as meeting all requirements of the Teachers’ Master Agreement. A motion to non-renew the probationary teacher contract for Heidi Niemeyer passed on a roll call vote, 7–0.
A resolution accepting a $500 donation from Ken and Patsy Rossow was approved by roll call (7–0). The consent agenda and related personnel items recorded in the minutes included resignations (Lily McCargar, Lisa Battcher, Olivia Denzer, Wesley Heiser and Sean Keating), the approval of a termination (Sally Pelant), and the hiring of multiple staff (including Cameron Estes, Bethany Valentini, Andrew Flowers, Samantha Flores, Samantha Funk, Nakiye Mercado, Sarah Sickler, Martha Turner, Olivia Denzer and Isabella Shelton).
The board adjourned at 6:31 PM. Upcoming meetings noted in the minutes included a study session set for May 6 and the next regular meeting scheduled for May 20.
