Bradley County Commission unanimously approves final budget amendments

The Bradley County Commission voted unanimously on June 15 to adopt final budget amendments for fiscal year 2025-2026, approving a range of revenue and expenditure adjustments across the county general fund and multiple special funds.

Chairman Thomas L. Crye called the noon meeting to order and, after routine roll call and procedural business, Commissioner Milan M. Blake moved to approve the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 final budget amendments; Commissioner Cindy Slater seconded the motion. On roll call the 13 commissioners present voted in favor; the motion carried 13-0 (one seat absent).

The packet of amendments, recorded as an attachment to the agenda, shows a number of technical and programmatic changes: revenue updates such as an increase in local option sales tax receipts, adjustments to prisoner-board revenue and school resource officer grant allocations, and transfers into capital project funds. The package also contains detailed line-item changes in public-safety budgets, health programs and community services. The board approved the consent agenda and minutes for June 1 by unanimous roll call votes earlier in the session.

The amendments packet included committee recommendations from the county finance committee and supporting documents supplied by county staff and the finance director. After approving the amendments, the chairman declared there was no further business and adjourned the meeting at 12:35 p.m. Donna A. Simpson, county clerk, attested to the minutes.

The commission did not take further formal action on proposed tax-rate changes at the June 15 session; any rate changes would require additional votes or hearings if the commission elects to pursue the finance committee's recommendations.
