Logan council approves new pub license, sets levy hearing and advances Safe Routes to School engineering

The Logan City Council on March 2 approved a slate of routine actions, including a new Class C Retail Alcohol License for The Local Pub and Eatery, a public hearing date for the property tax levy and authorization to negotiate construction engineering services for a Safe Routes to School trail.
Council Member Sporrer moved to approve the agenda, and later moved approval of the new alcohol license; both motions and the other routine items passed on 5-0 votes. Council Member Troshynski moved to set April 6, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. for a Property Tax Levy public hearing; Council Member DeWitt seconded and the motion carried. The council also voted to proceed with negotiations with Veenstra & Kimm, LLC for construction engineering services for the Safe Routes to School Trail project, on a motion by Sporrer and a second by Council Member Moss.
The council approved a land use agreement allowing E80 Plus Constructors, LLC to temporarily store equipment on city-owned land while working on the CN Railroad Boyer River crossing; Troshynski moved the measure and DeWitt seconded. The consent agenda, which included approval of the Feb. 23 meeting minutes, claims register and financial reports, was approved on a Moss motion with DeWitt seconding.
The consent agenda included a claims register totaling $41,131.49, with expenditures recorded across the General Fund, Library Fund, Road Use Fund, Water Fund, Water Plant Capital Project Fund and Sewer Fund. Deputy Clerk Karen Androy attested the minutes; Mayor Clint McDonald signed the record noting the meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
