Planning commission recommends approval of BHASD athletic renovations revised final plan

The Longswamp Township Planning Commission on July 1 recommended the Board of Supervisors approve the Brandywine Heights Area School District (BHASD) Athletic Renovations revised final plan, conditioned on Hanover Engineering Associates’ (HEA) review letter dated June 27, 2025.
The recommendation followed a presentation by Dean Molitoris, BHASD’s director of building and grounds, and Michael Hartman of Schlouch, Inc., who described plan changes made after comments from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the Berks County Conservation District. HEA told the commission it had received the outside-agency comments and that adjustments had been incorporated into the revised documents.
Commissioner Kerry Meitzler moved to recommend approval; Commissioner Greg Kupar seconded the motion, which passed with all in favor. The minutes state the revised improvements agreement and the plan’s final cost estimate are still being prepared and remain outstanding conditions for final Board action.
The commission also noted that waivers requested for an associated BHASD Woodshop Expansion & Greenhouse project had been forwarded to the Board of Supervisors after earlier HEA review. The Board will consider the commission’s recommendation at an upcoming meeting; the minutes do not record a board decision on this revised final plan at the July 1 Planning Commission meeting.
