Sauk Centre awards street‑maintenance contracts and approves revised Phase I for T.H. 71 project

Sauk Centre — At its March 18 meeting, the Sauk Centre City Council accepted multiple low bids for city street maintenance and approved a revised scope for Phase I of the T.H. 71 side‑street project.
Bids for crack filling were opened March 13; MP Asphalt Maintenance submitted the low bid of $34,780.00 and the council approved Resolution No. 2026‑18 to accept that bid and authorize contract execution. For sealcoating, two bids were opened and Astech submitted the low bid of $40,751.81; council approved Resolution No. 2026‑19. A lone bid for slurry sealing Ash Street was received from Astech for $90,701.29 and the council approved Resolution No. 2026‑20 to accept that bid.
Separately, the council approved a modification to Phase I of the T.H. 71 Side Street Project that lists the specific city side streets to be included; the Operations Committee had recommended removing one block each of 10th Street S. and 1st Street S. Phase I is proposed for completion in 2027, with Phase II inside the T.H. 71 corridor proposed for 2028. The motion to approve the Phase I modification was made by Council Member Joe Fuechtmann and seconded by Council Member Heidi Leach; the vote was unanimous.
