Charlestown Board swears in two reserve police officers

The chief of police introduced the candidates and said both passed fitness and written tests and completed background investigations and interviews. "They both passed and excelled on the fit test and the written test," the chief said, adding the department had conducted background checks and several interviews and expects the officers to be "a really good fit" for the department.
On a motion by Simpson, seconded by Maggie Wild, the board voted to swear the two candidates in. The officers repeated the oath to support and defend the constitutions and laws of the United States and the State of Indiana and were welcomed to the Charlestown Police Department.
There was no public comment on the item. The board moved on to other business after the short ceremony and adjourned later in the meeting.
