The Sauk Centre City Council on March 4 voted on a string of routine and operational items, approving resolutions to install traffic-control signage, authorize a lot sale in Authors Addition, and enter an agreement with Axon for camera warranty, maintenance and cloud storage.
Traffic control: Council Member Brad Kirckof moved and Council Member Heidi Leach seconded Resolution No. 2026-11 to authorize installation of traffic-control signs at a section of Lake Shore Drive near the intersection with 5th Street after a resident complaint that vehicles parked on both sides made navigation difficult. The motion passed unanimously.
Traffic speed monitoring: A separate request for a speed or “Children at Play” sign on Tenth Street at Tower View Drive prompted Police Chief Joe Jensen to recommend a portable speed sensor be deployed to collect data before selecting permanent signage; council approved deployment of the sensor by general consent.
Authors Addition lot sale: The council approved Resolution No. 2026-13 authorizing documents to sell Lot 4, Block 3 in Authors Addition. The motion was moved by Council Member Scott Kowski and seconded by Council Member Heidi Leach; the vote was unanimous.
Axon agreement: Police Chief Joe Jensen presented a negotiated agreement with Axon to cover warranty and maintenance for the department’s body and squad cameras and to provide cloud storage. According to the meeting record, the contract will save the city $107,000 over the next ten years. Council Member Heidi Leach moved and Council Member Scott Kowski seconded approval; the council approved the agreement unanimously.
Consent items and finance: The council approved the consent agenda, which included unpaid claims totaling $300,514.11, a $167.95 donation from the Men’s Card Playing Group to the Senior Center, and a gambling permit request from Sauk Centre Sno-Cleats, Inc. The council also accepted Resolution No. 2026-14 to accept contributions. The meeting adjourned following a unanimous motion to close.
The council’s actions were routine in nature and carried by unanimous votes; staff will follow up on the portable speed sensor deployment and execute documents required for the approved contracts and lot sale.
