CDD authorizes gatehouse redesign and master signage work, approves subconsultant arrangement

The River Ridge CDD on Oct. 22 authorized Bowman to retain RG Architects, P.A. as a subconsultant to redesign two gatehouses and approved Bowman Consulting Group's landscape architecture proposal for a Pelican Sound master signage program.
Eric Long said the gatehouses will receive a facade redesign (not demolition) and noted the main gate’s low clearance had resulted in 12 impacts this year. He said RG is familiar with the community’s previous designs and that design and permitting should take about 12 to 18 months. The board discussed booking the $62,500 design fee as an up-front, reimbursable deferred cost to be invoiced when CDD financing is issued.
District counsel recommended authorizing Bowman to retain RG under Bowman’s standard terms and allowing the chair to execute documents after review by counsel and the district manager. On a motion by Kurt Blumenthal, seconded by Terry Mountford, the board approved the authorization unanimously.
The board also approved Bowman Consulting’s proposal to replace monuments and neighborhood signage, with neighborhood replacement costs charged to Pelican Sound replacement reserves. Mr. Long and Mr. Blumenthal will coordinate liaison and community communications on designs and monthly updates.
