Orono council directs staff to draft resolution to vacate easements for Honey Hill plat

After a public hearing with no public opposition, council directed staff to draft a resolution to vacate several drainage and utility easements related to the Honey Hill (LA 24-30) preliminary plat; final action is scheduled for review on Sept. 23, 2024.
At the Sept. 9 meeting the Orono City Council opened and closed a public hearing on a request to vacate existing drainage and utility easements for the proposed Honey Hill subdivision on Lake Classen. Planning staff Melanie told the council the easements would conflict with the newly platted lots and that perimeter easements would be dedicated as part of the final plat.
No members of the public spoke in opposition during the hearing. After staff's presentation the council voted to direct staff to draft a resolution approving the easement vacation for consideration at the Sept. 23 meeting; the motion passed 4-0.
Melanie said the applicant's final plat is tentatively scheduled for council review Sept. 23 and that comments would remain open until that meeting.
