Commission grants hardcover variance for Casco Point Road turnaround after safety testimony

Applicant Mark Inger described repeated safety problems when backing onto a busy Casco Point Road and said the larger turnaround would permit safer maneuvering for visitors and service vehicles. “We are confident that an expanded turnaround will allow a car… to back… and exit Casco Point Road,” he said, citing near-misses and mail carriers who declined to drive the driveway.
Staff (Miss Curtis) recapped prior 2020 relief and noted the code's typical minimum turnaround dimensions; commissioners said the hardship identified in 2020 remains and approved the additional hardcover by voice vote.
